Everyone has some association with dentures. Whether it is the memory of a grandparent, aunt, or uncle placing them in a glass at night, watching them struggle with certain foods, or simply laughing at chattering teeth portrayed in cartoons. It is a matter of historical record that George Washington, our first president wore them. It seems as if dentures have always been a prominent part of American culture and lifestyle. In fact, dentures have been our traditional remedy for missing teeth. With the technology of today, dentures are lighter and stronger than ever. However, there are still the issues of improper fitting, irritation of the gums and palate, odors and cumbersome cleaning issues.

Cosmetic dentistry has been on the forefront of dealing with missing teeth, and has provided a solution that is as close to natural teeth and dental implants is the best option. Because of their design dental implants perform and function like real teeth. A person with dental implants can speak with confidence and eat virtually all kinds of foods with confidence.

The importance of replacing missing teeth

Most dental patients are unaware of the health implications behind tooth loss. When you lose a tooth, the part of the jawbone that supported the tooth and its roots will over a period of time, will begin to deteriorate. Dentures don’t prevent this deterioration, but dental implants will prevent this because the implant serves as a replacement for the root structure of the missing tooth.

Why not dentures?

Dentures have come a long way in their construction, but they still don’t look as natural as your regular teeth. A good cosmetic dentist, like Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, will make dental implants look, feel and function like your natural teeth. Dental implants stand alone, just as the natural tooth does, therefore it is not necessary to alter the adjacent teeth as is the case for bridges. Dental implants carry an extremely high success rate, and never need to be re-fitted, as dentures eventually require.

The ideal candidate for dental implant

Dentures may have been working just fine, but let’s suppose you have decided to make the transition to dental implants; are you a good candidate? The best candidates in Charlotte, NC for dental implants are in good general health. They should have adequate bone in the jaw to support the implant, and the gums should be free of periodontal disease. However, if there is insufficient bone in the jaw, a bone graft is possible. Of course, your cosmetic dentist at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry will carefully evaluate your overall condition and recommend the bet course of action for you.

Dentures not necessary in Charlotte, NC

If you have been considering dental implants as an alternative to dentures or if you need new dentures and want to see what other options are available, you should contact the trusted cosmetic dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry in your Charlotte, NC area. Dental implants offer some benefits over the traditional dentur es that most people are familiar with. However, only your implant dentist can tell you if you are able to choose this option. In some cases people may have suffered too much bone loss for dental implants to be a viable option for their dental needs.

Implant dentistry ideal for cosmetic dentists

Many cosmetic dentists specialize in dental implants and they are a good source of information if you are considering dental implants as an option. Dental implants can be used to replace one or many missing teeth. They also offer a good solution for anchoring dentures so that you do not have the worry of them slipping or needing messy bonding agents to keep them in place. Dental implants are anchored directly into the bone of your jaw. When done correctly, no one, including you, will be able to tell they aren’t your real teeth.

One of the benefits of considering dental implants is that Charlotte residents can retain their beautiful smiles. With implant dentistry, there is no jaw shrinkage associated with tooth loss and dentures. Dental implants also ensure you will still be able to eat all of your favorite foods. Dentures tend to slip or make chewing and biting painful, if not impossible when it comes to certain foods. For instance, raw apples, corn on the cob, and even thick sandwiches can be difficult to eat with dentures. If you have reached the point in your life where dentures seem to be the only solution to your dental problems, consider dental implants.

Considering dental implants makes sense if you want to avoid discomfort

While they are not the perfect solution for everyone, a lot of Charlotte, NC residents are extremely happy they were considering dental implants as an option. If you think about the benefits of dental implants this is really not so surprising! Why settle for dentures that may not fit correctly or can cause pain by rubbing on your gums? Dental implants look and feel just like your real teeth! If you do need dentures wouldn’t it be better to have them anchored firmly in place by dental implants? This would prevent the dentures from shifting and rubbing on your gums. Shifting and rubbing often cause blisters or sores on your gums.

Considering dental implants may be one of the wisest choices you make when it comes to cosmetic dentistry. Residents in the Charlotte, NC area can contact Ballantyne Center for Dentistry with any questions they may have about dental implants and dentures. If you are young or young at heart, considering dental implants makes perfect sense.

Dentures are no longer the only option for people missing teeth in Charlotte, NC. Historically, dentures were often the only option available when, for whatever reason, a person had lost a tooth or a number of teeth. With advances in cosmetic dentistry, people are now able to choose between dentures and dental implants. In some cases dentures may still be the most reasonable option. However, it is always nice to know that there is an alternative available. Many people have already tried dental implants and have found them to be a great alternative.

Dentures not always easy to wear

Dentures sometimes fit poorly or cause pain from rubbing and food getting caught under them. Having dentures sometimes means having to use messy sealants to protect your gums from food particles. Many times people have to give up eating some of the foods they love because the dentures just don’t provide the ability to bite into some things. For people who have suffered through this scenario, or who are facing this choice, dental implants from the trusted implant dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, may provide a better solution.

Dental implants can replace one or more lost teeth. They are anchored firmly into the jawbone, basically the same as your natural teeth are attached. This provides a more natural feel when biting into foods. You do not have the fear that they may slip while you are eating, talking, or smiling. Dental implants have been found to give people more confidence in their replacement teeth. They can also be used in conjunction with dentures to provide a firm and secure anchor so that the dentures fit and look more natural.

Denture materials improved, but still not as comfortable as dental implants

The materials used to produce dentures has improved considerably over the years so that it is now possible to provide false teeth that look much more natural than in the past. However, it is still difficult to provide a truly comfortable pair of dentures. There is almost always a period of adjustment while your gums and jaw become accustomed to the false teeth. Dental implants reduce or remove this adjustment period because they are anchored into the bone from the beginning. They will not slip or rub on tender gums, or the insides of the mouth.

If you have been considering dentures in the Charlotte, NC area, you may want to talk to your dentist about the possibility of having dental implants instead of, or in conjunction with them. Dental implants may not be the best solution for everyone. Your cosmetic dentist at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry should be able to give you more information about what the implants can and cannot do for you. In some cases there may be too much bone loss for the implants to be used. This is something that your dentist can help you determine.

If you are ready to make the leap from uncomfortable dentures to dental implants, contact the professionals at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry today and make an appointment for an evaluation. You may discover that dentures can be a thing of the past!

For years, people in Charlotte NC were stuck with one option for missing teeth, and that option was dentures. Thanks to technological advancements, many people are considering dental implants instead. Whether you are missing teeth due to injury or tooth decay, you will appreciate the advantages dental implants have over dentures. For most patients of Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, choosing dental implants helps them avoid some of the painful and sometimes embarrassing aspects of dentures.

Denture wearers complain about comfort and practicality

When dentures were invented, they were a remarkable option for people who were missing teeth. Many people were thankful to have a way to continue to eat and talk relatively normally. Throughout the past few decades, dentures have been the popular choice for people with missing teeth. However, that seems to be changing with the advancements of dental implants.

Patients often complain to the cosmetic dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry how uncomfortable their dentures are. While there have been many advancements in denture technology, they still have some issues with slipping, regardless of how good the fit. This can be embarrassing, especially if their dentures click while talking. When patients have both top and bottom dentures they tend to have more problems with them than those who just have one or the other. In the past, dentures were made from porcelain, ivory and even bone. However, these days, dentures are usually made from plastic. The plastic does make them more comfortable and durable than in years past, however, they are still not ideal.

Durability and strength are just two benefits of dental implants

So, if people in Charlotte NC are not interested in dentures, what are their other options? These days, the trustworthy implant dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry recommend dental implants as an alternative to dentures. Most people considering dental implants have lots of questions, and your implant dentist can answer them. But, between durability, strength and comfort, many patients find that dental implants are a way to avoid painful dentures—all while having a natural looking smile. In fact, dental implants look more like normal teeth than dentures do, making them a popular option—especially for younger patients.

Designed to create a foundation that is ideal for restoring teeth, dental implants are placed directly into a patient’s jawbone. Because of this, dental implants look and feel like your regular teeth. The number of dental implants needed determines the number of posts that are placed in the jawbone. If only one tooth needs to be replaced, only one post will be used. Dentists and patients appreciate that they do not have to have other teeth pulled to have dental implants put in; dental implants can be used if there are several teeth missing, or just one tooth.

Patients in Charlotte NC who have been wearing dentures for many years see dramatic changes in their facial structure. This is because tooth loss leads to jaw deterioration—which can result in facial changes and other health issues over time. This is another reason why considering dental implants makes good sense. Dental implants are placed directly into the jawbone and jaw deterioration is avoided, maintaining your natural, younger appearance.

If you are considering dental implants to help you have the smile you deserve, contact Ballantyne Center for Dentistry in Charlotte, NC, and find out if this denture alternative is right for you!

Are you considering dental implants as an alternative to dentures? If so, you should know that the implant dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry in Charlotte NC are finding great success with dental implants because they are an effective alternative to dentures. People with dentures often complain about pain and slippage—which makes dentures uncomfortable. But, dental implants are an alternative that is more comfortable and longer lasting than dentures. While dentures have made significant advancements over the years, many people are still not happy with them. This is why considering dental implants are so important if you are missing teeth and looking for a denture alternative.

Unlike dentures, dental implants look like natural teeth

Implant dentists in Charlotte NC agree that dental implants are an ideal alternative to dentures for most people because they look so much like natural teeth. Because an implant dentist places the dental implant directly into a patient’s jawbone, they are a great foundation for tooth restoration. This is one of the reasons that dental implants look so much like natural teeth. Thankfully, after dental implants many patients say they do not experience pain and discomfort they may have experienced with dentures.

Dentures are typically made from plastic

Over the years, dentures have been made from quite a few materials. In the past, they were made from ivory, bone and porcelain. These days, they are made from plastic, which does make them more comfortable to wear. But, patients still complain about how uncomfortable dentures feel. When people have to wear top and bottom dentures, they are particularly uncomfortable. If dentures do not fit well and slip, it can be downright embarrassing. That’s where considering dental implants makes so much sense! When considering dental implants, keep in mind that dental implants are more comfortable than dentures, look more like natural teeth, and they also increase good dental health. When an implant dentist puts in dental implants, they replace the root with a small titanium post. So, this not only looks like natural teeth—but they function the same way as well.

We’ve all seen someone who wears dentures. The dentures just don’t look all that natural in a person’s mouth. This is partly because the jawbone deteriorates when teeth roots are missing, causing shrinkage around the mouth where the root used to sit. When your trusted implant dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry in Charlotte put in dental implants, the root is replaced and prevents the jawbone from deteriorating, increasing oral health and keeping that telltale sign of shrinkage around the mouth from occurring.

Dental implants save surrounding teeth!

If you are still uncertain about considering dental implants because you only need a dental bridge, think about this: While this is a solution for the missing teeth, it also requires surrounding teeth to be grinded down to install the bridge. But, with dental implants, neighboring teeth are not affected. This also makes oral hygiene convenient, which can help decrease the likelihood of having other missing teeth and can contribute to overall health. Are you considering dental implants? If so, be sure to contact the experienced implant dentists at Ballantyne Dentistry in Charlotte, NC to talk about your options!

In the past, many people have been frustrated with dentures. They slip and click and can cause pain and discomfort for many people. But, unfortunately, dentures were the only option for many years if you were missing teeth. These days, thanks to advanced technology, many patients in Charlotte NC are considering dental implants instead of cumbersome dentures.

Dentures are inconvenient and painful
For years, people have been complaining about the discomfort associated with dentures. Dentures often slip and can be very uncomfortable. Some patient’s even report having loose dentures that click and cause embarrassment in public. People who choose dental implants instead of dentures are thankful that they no longer have to deal with this embarrassment—they appreciate the ability to speak clearly with dental implants. Dental implants are increasing their confidence and restore the ability to eat foods they couldn’t eat with traditional dentures.

Dental implants are less embarrassing than dentures
Many people who have had dentures have been elderly, but that is not always the case. Many younger patients with missing teeth are embarrassed about having dentures so early in life. They feel uncomfortable because of how dentures feel and look. It can be embarrassing and uncomfortable for people when dentures slip while they are speaking. Sometimes dentures do not allow people to have the active lifestyle they enjoyed before wearing dentures. Patients who receive dental implants comment that it has changed their lives, allowing them to participate once again in some of their favorite activities.

Dental implants are a great alternative to dentures
Because there have not been many options for people with missing teeth in the past, many people had to settle on dentures. But, when people are missing a few teeth, or even just one, rather that having to pull additional teeth for dentures, other teeth can remain intact. Unlike dentures, dental implants are anchored into the patient’s jawbone.

Who is a good candidate for dental implants?
There are many Charlotte NC residents who may be great candidates for dental implants from Ballantyne Center for Dentistry. In fact, most people who are eligible for dentures are also candidates for dental implants. Whether it’s because of missing teeth or even the loss of facial structure due to missing teeth, dental implants are a great option. Additionally, if someone has had dentures and has denture soreness or the decreased ability to chew and eat in public—dental implants can solve that problem.

There is less discomfort with dental implants
Patients with dental implants do not have the same discomfort or soreness common to people with dentures. When your cosmetic dentist at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry puts in dental implants, they become attached to the jawbone as it heals—making them permanent.

Dental implants are a great option for missing teeth. Did you know that your teeth were designed to last a lifetime? Unfortunately, sometimes they do not. And replacing teeth that are missing or failing can affect your overall health, and the health of your other teeth. You can lose the ability to chew, as well as lose other teeth.

Missing teeth can cause loss of self-esteem
If you have missing teeth, you know that sometimes it affects your appearance and you may suffer a loss of self-esteem. We see patients every week that struggle with this. Thankfully, these days there are great options for people who have missing teeth. Dental implants are the first choice of cosmetic dentists in Charlotte NC. They have been used for over 50 years, and are the most effective option in most situations. Cosmetic dentists and patients alike appreciate that dental implants are more predictable than alternatives like bridgework, resin bonded bridges, and even endodontic treatment.

So, what are dental implants?
If you are missing one or more teeth, a dental implant can substitute the root of the missing teeth. The titanium dental implant acts as an anchor for the replacement tooth, or even for the crown or a set or replacement teeth.

Who is a good candidate for dental implants?
When people think of dentures, they typically think of elderly people. Alternatively, dental implants are a great choice for anyone, of any age, who is missing one or more teeth. Whether it was because of injury, or even disease or decay, dental implants can be a great option. Often, dental implants are used for people who cannot wear removable dentures any longer. Your Charlotte NC cosmetic dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry can help you decide if you are a good candidate for dental implants.

It is important to note that ideal candidates for dental implants have enough bone to support the implant. Thankfully, even if you do not have enough bone, cosmetic dentistry has methods available to correct bone deficiency.

Dental implants are not one-size fits all
These days there are many options for dental implants. They are not one-size fits all. So, if you are considering dental implants, your cosmetic dentist can help you figure out which ones will be right for your particular situation.

Depending on your situation, treatment time can vary. Your cosmetic dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry will evaluate your situation and can give you an estimated timetable.

Dental implants have a high success rate
When people are considering investing in dental implants, the success rate is definitely a consideration. Thankfully, when a trusted cosmetic dentist installs the dental implants there is a nearly 100% success rate. Because they are so durable, many patients will have their dental implants last for the rest of their life.

While it is easy to see the cosmetic benefits of dental implants, many people do not realize that there are many other benefits of dental implants. Research shows that dental implants can help improve overall oral health in patients. This is another reason that many Charlotte NC dentists will recommend patients have dental implants put in when the patient is missing one or several teeth.  Research shows that people that have more teeth actually live longer!

If you have missing teeth, consider discussing all of your options for dental implants with your trusted Charlotte NC cosmetic dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry today.

Visiting a reliable cosmetic dentist is the first step to having a more confident smile for those considering dental implants in Charlotte NC. By age 44, nearly 75% of adults have lost at least one permanent tooth. People with tooth loss often find that cosmetic dentistry is a helpful way to increase self-esteem and even make daily tasks, like eating, easier.

Dental implants provide a denture alternative
For many years the only options for people suffering from tooth loss were bridges and dentures. These days there are other options, like dental implants. Regardless of whether tooth loss is because of tooth decay, gingivitis, or injury, dental implants can be a great solution.  Dental implants are replacement roots that provide a strong foundation for permanent teeth. A reliable implant dentist will make the dental implants to match the patient’s natural teeth. Charlotte NC residents no longer have to be burdened by not having a perfect smile.

Dental implants increase quality of life
Having missing teeth fixed or replaced is not just about aesthetics. Often missing teeth make it difficult to eat, and sometimes speech is affected. While dental implants will provide improved appearance, patients enjoy that they feel permanent. Oftentimes with dentures, the teeth can slip causing speech problems. As a denture alternative, dental implants allow patients to not have to worry about teeth slipping.

Dentures can also make chewing difficult. However, dental implants function like your own teeth, making eating pain free. Because they are fused with bone, they are more comfortable than traditional dentures.

In addition to the cosmetic and practice benefits of dental implants, people considering dental implants should be aware that implants can improve oral health. When one of the trusted Charlotte NC sedation dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry gives a patient dental implants, most of the patient’s teeth are left intact, which helps improve long-term oral health.

What to expect at a dental implant consultation
A trusted Charlotte NC cosmetic dentist who focuses on implant dentistry will thoroughly examine a patient’s teeth during the consultation- evaluating gums, bone density and teeth quantity. Often, dentists will use x-rays and CT scans to determine whether or not there is sufficient bone structure for the implants. The implant dentist will also be able to determine where the implant will be placed.

Nearly 100% success rate with dental implants
For people considering dental implants, the success rate can be a concern. But, when a trusted cosmetic dentist installs dental implants correctly, there is a 98% success rate. Because of the durability, many dental implants will last a lifetime if cared for properly.

Who can get dental implants?
As long as a patient has healthy gums, and bone strong enough to hold the implant, they can be considered for dental implants. It is also important that patients are committed to good oral hygiene and will continue to regularly visit their trusted sedation dentist. However, if patients smoke heavily or have uncontrolled chronic disorders, they will need to be evaluated individually by their cosmetic dentist.

If you are considering dental implants in Charlotte NC, contact the reliable implant dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, Charlotte's cosmetic dentists, today to discuss your options.

Dentures are the most common solution to the age old fact that as we get older, our teeth, just like our children, often leave us to live out their separate lives in the world.  Granted, your teeth probably do not call on your birthday or come spend Christmas week with you – nor do they make cute little grandkids for you to play with, but you get the picture. Teeth, sometimes, do not last forever.

Dentures:  the traditional solution
Most people who lose their teeth go to the dentist to get fitted for dentures, and then there is the added bonus of being able to impress your little grandkids with the way you can pull out your teeth and put them back in.  Unfortunately, though, this aspect of dentures – the fact that they are removable – represents one of the biggest challenges to denture wearers.  That knee-slapper joke that your best friend tells, the one that makes you want to laugh so hard it hurts, suddenly becomes a threat.  If you laugh too hard, will your teeth fall out?  And then there is the problem of enjoying certain foods, like chewing gum, toffee, or a big juicy steak.  All these things we love, but enjoying them with dentures becomes a lot more complicated.

At some point, denture wearers may wonder -- is there a better alternative to dentures? The answer, thankfully, is yes, and it is found in dental implants.

Dental implants are the answer to your problems with dentures
Many people who currently wear dentures or need new dentures are surprised to discover the many amazing benefits that modern dental implants can give them and that dental implants are a miraculous solution to your problems with dentures.  For example, complete teeth replacement dental implants are permanent porcelain overdentures and they are not removable, so no more worrying about your teeth floating around in your mouth.  Albeit, you will not be able to entertain your grandkids by taking them out anymore, but for most people this minor inconvenience is a small price to pay.  More seriously, dental implants are strong and beautiful and they will fill out your face again.  They give you solid teeth again, teeth that are yours, which you can use to enjoy so many foods that you never thought you would be able to enjoy after receiving dentures.

Cosmetic dentistry is the dentistry of the future and it is one of the most effective and reliable ways to dramatically improve your appearance and your confidence.  For this reason, there are a number of benefits of seeing a dentist with cosmetic dentistry training over a regular dentist. One of the most important benefits of seeing a cosmetic dentist over a regular dentist is that they are specially trained not only to help repair and restore teeth, they do it with an artist’s eye. This means that they are always aware of the aesthetic values of cosmetic dentistry, especially when it comes to making replacement teeth look natural, or getting just the right level of teeth whitening so you get noticed, and not just your teeth.

Charlotte cosmetic dentists help their patients every day to overcome their dental-related problems ranging from simple one-day procedures to more complicated multi-day smile makeovers.  Whether you have a solitary chipped tooth, or whether you do not have any teeth at all, a modern cosmetic dentist can give you your smile back – and make it better and more beautiful than it ever was before.

What are the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures in Charlotte NC?
The most common cosmetic dentistry procedures performed include dental implants to replace a missing tooth, or to replace all of your teeth for denture wearers; porcelain veneers to correct teeth misalignments, discolored teeth or gaps in your teeth; and teeth whitening procedures to make your smile white and shining with a natural luster.

More about dental implants
Dental implants have become more and more popular in Charlotte NC and a cosmetic dentist can provide them to you through a minor form of dental surgery. The procedure involves the implantation of a titanium post into your jaw bone at the site of your missing tooth – or in the case of people with dentures – multiple posts will be installed at various points throughout your jaw.  Once those implants have adhered and fused with your jawbone, your cosmetic dentist will place your new tooth on top of the post – or he may place a bridge or complete overdenture to replace multiple teeth.  Since dental implants are permanent and beautiful, they can help people feel more confident as well as enjoy certain foods that they never could have enjoyed with dentures.

More about porcelain veneers
All porcelain veneers installed on your teeth by a Charlotte cosmetic dentist can transform your smile instantly.  The porcelain veneers of today do not include any kind of metal framing so there is no more worrying about dark stains at the gum line which used to be so common with the porcelain veneers of yesterday. Also, because porcelain veneers are translucent – much like your natural tooth enamel – they look perfectly natural.  In fact, porcelain veneers have a special kind of luster that looks so real and dazzling, they will make your teeth the envy of your friends.

More about teeth whitening
Teeth whitening is by far the easiest and fastest way to improve the look of your smile.  Often in just one visit to your Charlotte cosmetic dentists, you can leave with teeth that are dramatically whiter, cleaner looking, and more beautiful.  So many people go throughout their lives self-conscious about the darkness or dinginess of their teeth, but really in most cases it is such a quick and inexpensive fix that no one should ever have to worry about not having the whitest teeth possible.

Dental implants may seem like a relatively new and high tech product, but they have actually been available for a long time and have been subjected to over 50 years worth of testing.  In fact, among candidates who qualify to receive a dental implant, implant dentistry is touted as having a 95 percent success rate.

Who is a good candidate for a tooth implant?

Most people make excellent candidates for implant dentistry, and many people benefit from dental implants.  The most important factor your cosmetic dentist considers before approving dental implants has to do with the level of bone density available in your jawbone.  Since the titanium post which supports a dental implant is inserted directly into the jawbone, patients must have sufficient level of thickness to their jawbone to support the procedure.  However, even in cases where patients have insufficient bone density, sometimes a bone graft can be performed by an oral or maxillofacial surgeon to bolster the jawbone so it can accept the implant.

The next most important factor would be that the patient is missing one or more teeth, and there are no shortages of missing teeth in the world.  In fact, 65 percent of individuals between the ages of 35 and 44 are missing at least one or more of their teeth as a result of gum disease, tooth decay, or an unsuccessful root canal.

Dentures, the traditional solution

While the most typical solution to a missing tooth is for a dentist to install a bridge which serves to permanently bridge the gap between two teeth by way of a prosthetic tooth, some people who have more missing teeth may make use of partial or full dentures.  In fact, the numbers of people who do not have any of their original teeth by the age of 74 total approximately 26 percent.

Denture alternatives for people who need new dentures

Fixed dentures and removable bridges typically need replacing about every seven years.  If you need new dentures, consider a permanent solution: dental implants! The fact they are a permanent solution when you need new dentures and can also be the perfect  solution for replacing a missing tooth with material that mirrors a real tooth, dental implants are quickly becoming one the biggest growing dental services available today.

For individuals who are missing one or two teeth, dental implants are an obvious answer.  If only one tooth is missing, the patient can go to the dentist to have his single tooth replaced.  On the other hand, people who are missing all of their teeth and have turned to dentures can also benefit from implants.  Several implant posts can be installed into their jaw, upon which a permanent and natural looking denture prosthesis can be installed.  This serves as an excellent and superior denture alternative because it allows patients to confidently chew the food they love, and also they never have to live in fear of their teeth coming loose while they are talking.

More than ever, people want dental implants

Dental implant procedures are on the rise. There were approximately 1million dental implants installed around the world during 2000 and that figure has been steadily increasing by 18 percent every year.  If you would like to learn more about implant dentistry or to schedule a consultation with a cosmetic dentist in Charlotte NC, contact Ballantyne Center for Dentistry by visiting them on the web today at www.ballantynecenterfordentistry.com!

What do cosmetic dentists do?

Cosmetic dentists provide you with state-of-the art procedures to transform your smile into artistic perfection.  If your teeth are stained or discolored they can provide you with special teeth whitening procedures, or provide you with porcelain veneers.  Porcelain veneers are dental caps for your teeth that are stain resistant and can help restore your smile if you have gaps, chips or cracks.  Dental bonding, crowns and bridges can also fix cracks or chips, and even prevent future cracking or chipping.  Crowns, bridges and dentures are great ways to fix teeth badly damaged from decay, or even missing teeth.  Whatever your smile faux pas may be, cosmetic dentists provide you with the proper cosmetic dental care and treat your smile like a piece of art.

Cosmetic dentistry is great, but I still have dental phobias.

Visiting your cosmetic dentist should not be a fearful experience.  There are many cosmetic procedures that use laser dentistry to restore your smile.  This means no drills or no needles are required for your beautiful smile.  Instead of using friction like drills use, which actually cause most of the pain from the heat associated with the procedure, lasers use a high intensity light beam for precise and accurate removal of decay, and excess or swollen gum tissue.  Laser dentistry is safe and has been used in dentistry since 1990 so find out if your cosmetic dentist is certified to use laser dentistry as well.  Do not let drills or needles scare you away from the smile of your dreams.

Where can I find a cosmetic dentist in Charlotte?

The internet is a great tool to use to find a cosmetic dentist.  But what should you look for?  It is important to know that your general dentist has had the appropriate amount of continuing education within cosmetic dentistry as well, and most of the time you will find that they are members of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry or some other Cosmetic Academy within the  dental industry.  More important is that your dentist have the eye for cosmetics and an artist's hand.  A very reputable source for information about cosmetic dentistry is www.mynewsmile.com.  This site is run by a retired cosmetic dentist and one of the founders of cosmetic dentistry. To be listed on his site you must pass a strict set of tests in order to be chosen as a referable dentist.  Dr. Christian Yaste and Dr. Joe Hufanda are proud to be the only two dentists in Charlotte listed on this site, and have been there for several years.

Look for cosmetic dentists who can show you patients who have gone through procedures to improve their smile!  At Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, they have posted pictures and videos of satisfied patients in order for you to actually see what their work looks like and to hear from the people who have benefitted from cosmetic dentistry.

If you are ready to schedule an appointment for cosmetic dentistry in Charlotte NC, then contact Ballantyne Center for Dentistry today.  Let Dr. Christian Yaste and Dr. Joe Hufanda create an artistic masterpiece of your smile.  Both cosmetic dentists are members of the AACD and would be happy to help you achieve the smile of your dreams.

Dental implants are an excellent denture alternative, not just for people who have one or two missing teeth, but also for people who have used false teeth for years and simply need new dentures.  The replacement teeth offered through implant dentistry are permanently anchored to the jawbone, just like your natural teeth.

Not only do implants function and look like normal teeth, they also feel similar to your real teeth.  Furthermore, they do not affect your speech like dentures do.  Because your implants are permanent and not removable, you will no longer need to fear that your dentures will float around inside your mouth while you’re trying to have a conversation with friends. Implant dentistry techniques will also be beautiful, and probably more aesthetically pleasing than your original teeth.

How do dental implants work?

The process of getting your dental implants is a quick and minor dental surgery that your implant dentists can perform in their office.  Your Ballantyne implant dentist will insert a titanium anchor into your jawbone.  Over time, the jawbone will grow to accommodate the titanium implant, fusing around the bone.  When your bone and the titanium anchor have fused, your implant dentist will place the replacement tooth on the anchor.

Can everybody get a dental implant?

Implant dentistry is not for everyone.  Some people, who have already had dentures for years and have grown accustomed to their dentures, may not be interested in the costs associated with denture alternatives.  In rarer cases, the jawbone may not be sufficiently dense to accept the implant and therefore further bone grafting procedures may be necessary before the procedure can be performed.  Fortunately, however, most patients are excellent candidates for dental implants, and dental implant procedures are known to have a 95% success rate.

With sedation dentistry, going to the dentist for dental implants is a relaxing experience

Would you like to have a denture alternative, but you are afraid of going through with the implant procedure?  Probably the number one reason why patients opt out of getting a dental implant is simply the fact that they are afraid of the dentist or the procedure.  For this reason, cosmetic dentists and implant dentists are typically trained in the art of sedation dentistry, which takes the stress and pain out of going to the dentist.  In fact, the implant dentists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry perform implant procedures with modern sedation dentistry techniques, which make the procedure both painless and stress free.  Patients can even take a mild sedative pill at home to remove any anxiety they have before even leaving for the dentist.

At Ballantyne Center for Dentistry located in Charlotte, Dr. Christian Yaste and Dr. Joe Hufanda have combined experience of more than two and a half decades dealing with the most modern and up-to-date implant dentistry procedures and cosmetic dentistry techniques.  In addition to being cosmetic dentists, they are also expert sedation dentists, so you can leave your worries at the door when you go to see the professionals at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry

It is an inevitable part of aging to lose one’s teeth – aging may not be the main reason though, as often times, people lose their teeth because of pure neglect. Either way, having a missing tooth or missing teeth is not that presentable. In fact, it is quite embarrassing. It is a good thing that the technology of today has provided us means to correct this awful picture. The birth of dentures and dental implants or teeth implants has made a big difference in the dental health division. Knowing that you do not have to dwell and be stuck with the physical humiliation of missing teeth or the difficulty in terms of eating is a great relief.

Today, people have been wondering and debating as to which prosthetic intervention is best: dentures or dental implants. Since both require money and both affect a person’s physical and psychological health, it is only appropriate to examine and analyze which is better by looking into their advantages and disadvantages.

Dentures. Let us start with the dentures. Dentures were developed first and society is accustomed to this type of intervention. Dentures are a lot cheaper than dental implants and the process of creating the prosthetic is also faster. After a couple of visits, you will have the molded prosthetic. Another good thing about dentures is it is not demanding in terms of the person’s physical health or structure – jaw structure to be exact. The downfall of dental dentures is blamed at the comfort it provides to the one using them. Since dentures are removable, people may suffer from difficulties in chewing their food. Also, because dentures are removable, some people often suffer from the humiliation of having their dentures detached and fall out of their mouth unpredictably.

Dental Implants. Contrary to dentures, dental implants are secure because they are embedded into the bone socket. The jawbone anchors the prosthetic tooth, which allows the dental implant to appear and feel like the original.  Because dental implants are securely rooted, eating is far more comfortable and the chances of having the implant detached accidentally are eliminated. The risk with teeth implants is the fact that it requires dental surgery, and is also much more expensive.  Sedation dentistry is available now, where patients can relax in comfort during the dental procedure, usually without any memory of laying in the dental chair. We here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry offer an array of financing plans to help you afford the dental implants for your teeth.  Contact your local Charlotte cosmetic dentist, here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, to learn more about dental implants as see if dental implants are appropriate for you.  Most cosmetic dentists will provide a free consultation and answer any of your dental implant questions.

The IDEAL Solution for Current Denture Sufferers. All hope is not lost if you already have dentures, or if you are destined to wear them.  In fact, the technology today helps us implement dentures and dental implants together.  By using just a few dental implants we can create a stable base for your dentures.  No longer will you need to worry about dentures popping out at family gatherings and other embarrassing situations.  Also, you will not need to spend enormous amount of time “gluing” in your dentures everyday.  These type of implants can be used for current denture wearers or for new dentures.  The cost is significantly less than it would be for a full mouth of implants as well.  It is the perfect starting point.

If you or someone you knows suffers with dentures that are uncomfortable, loose, or look bad, come into our dental office, here in Ballantyne for a complimentary consultation and find out how we can help you rid yourself of denture problems!  We look forward to seeing you.

We recently received a call at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry with this question, “My 89 year old father has been reading about dental implants and is interested in getting them. Is he too old for dental implants?”

That’s a great question!  First- I’m sorry to hear her 89 year old father has waited this long to consider implants, but, no… he’s not too old to get dental implants, and I’m sure, if he interested in getting the implants, he will really enjoy the results.

There are some requirements for getting dental implants.  Visit your implant professionals, here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, and we’ll evaluate you to see if you are a candidate for dental implants. We will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums, along with evaluating your bone density, to ensure there is sufficient bone structure for placing the implants.  Some patients may require bone or soft tissue grafts if they have insufficient bone or gum tissue.  Don’t let any of these possible procedures scare you- we also provide sedation dentistry- so you will be relaxed and comfortable during the entire process.

Don’t wait until you’re 89 years old and then get your teeth fixed.  You should enjoy your smile now.  Dental implants are a great alternative to dentures, bridges and partial bridges,  and can replace one or more missing teeth.  These teeth implants are the most advanced technology available and produce great results. You won’t be able to tell the difference between a teeth implant and a regular implant as you bite into a juicy steak or a crisp, red apple, or laugh at your grandchild’s newest joke.Visit your dental implant specialists at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, and talk to us about getting dental implants. We look forward to talking with you.

Can you recall the first time you went to a dentist for a tooth extraction? More importantly, what solution was presented to you for tooth loss or tooth gaps? If you are answering this question with a quizzical look on your face (plus some amount of annoyance), chances are, you have been advised to have partial or complete dentures. Otherwise, you would be smiling and reading a different article.  A dental implant is great option you need to know more about.

Dentures and partial dentures are only one of the solutions for replacing missing tooth or teeth. Dentures work fine at first, and to a certain extent, but have some negative results and can create problems for you.  That’s why it’s important to learn more about other options, such as bridges and or dental implants.  Here are some of the reported issues with dentures and how they differ from dental implants.

How dentures and partial dentures differ from dental implants

Of course, you already know about some of the drawbacks of removable teeth replacement. You might have complained about these so many times and heard about them from other people, too. Dentures are not only irritating to use, because they are not your natural teeth, they can also cause anxiety attacks because you’ll never know when they will pop out, move around, fly out or get stuck in food. There are also other concerns like sore spots in your mouth and handling gobs of denture adhesive, to name a few.

You may have all or some of these problems but you must also know about the serious risks you face because of dentures. These are actually potential problems you can avoid by choosing to have dental implants instead of dentures:

1.       Ill-fitting dentures and tooth loss may increase your risk for bone loss. Dentures may exacerbate your problem with tooth loss instead of solving it. A gap in your mouth caused by a missing tooth can cause bone loss, which can cause further damage by making you look older than your age.

2.       Dentures and tooth loss may increase the risk of oral and other diseases. Bacteria can lie behind dentures that don’t fit properly and this can have serious health consequences.

3.       Studies have shown that people who have poorly fitting dentures or suffer from tooth loss actually die sooner.

4.       Partial Dentures actually end up loosening your natural teeth in the areas next to the missing teeth.  This creates even more tooth and bone loss.

Now, here’s the good news…. teeth implants are a predictable and excellent way to replace teeth and “Lock Down” an ill fitting denture.   With dental implants, you can still turn these bad effects around. Instead of having a removable tooth replacement, your dentist can implant a tooth root replacement. Just think of all the difficulties you have encountered while using dentures that eventually became loose or did not fit well. Dental implants will eliminate these minor and major problems.

Yes, you should now be asking if a dental implant is right for you. Generally, healthy persons with missing teeth are good candidates for dental implants. Consult a qualified implant dentist today for a more detailed discussion of dental implants.  Dr. Christian Yaste and Dr. Joe Hufanda, here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, are qualified implant dentists and will be happy to discuss if dental implants are right for you.

You may have skipped going to the dentist for regular checkups, and now your mouth is in bad shape. In fact, it’s in such bad shape that you’re afraid to go to the dentist!

Don’t worry; we have seen lots of bad teeth, here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry and many mouths in terrible condition. It’s our job to know how to help you, and provide a solution for your teeth problems.  Probably half of our patients come to see us, for the first time because their teeth hurt and they need help. Whatever is wrong with your teeth and mouth, we can help you figure out a solution.

Dental Sedation:

Maybe you are afraid of the pain a dental visit may cause? Dental sedation has come a long way. We offer several solutions that will keep you relaxed and comfortable during your dental procedure. You may not even remember the procedure, and may even fall asleep, you will be so relaxed.

Dentures, Dental implants and More:

You may believe your teeth are in such bad condition, they would need to all come out, and full dentures put in. This is usually not the case, and is not the first option we choose.  Removing all your teeth can cause bone loss, and gradually decreases the distance between your nose and your chin, which ages you dramatically. Dental technology has so many options for you- partials, dental implants and more. Come visit us and learn how we can improve your smile and keep you from any more bone loss, due to missing or diseased teeth and gums.

Dental Veneers:

If your teeth structure and roots are solid, you also may be a candidate for dental veneers. Porcelain veneers and dental bonding can be done in one visit, and provide amazing results. You’re teeth aren’t too bad to fix, and your local cosmetic dentist will not be surprised at the condition of your teeth when you arrive for a long deserved visit. Trust your professional cosmetic dentist to x-ray and diagnose your mouth, and give you options. Come see Dr. Christian Yaste or Dr. Joe Hufanda, here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry. Don't worry- we'll give you choices and help you with any mouth and teeth issues you have- see you soon. 704-540-2255.

New Dentures or Dental Implants?

Posted on February 25, 2011 by Admin2

Dentures don’t last forever, and will need replacing at some point. Proper care of your dentures, such as brushing them each night and removing any adhesives, along with brushing your dentures after each meal, will help them last longer.  The American Dental Association states that dentures may last from four to twenty-five years, but it depends on bone recession, normal wear and tear, and gum shrinkage.  All of these issues create the need for dentures to be replaced sooner. Talk to your dentist and he will determine if your dentures need replacing.

Some people aren’t happy with their dentures. The dentures slip when they are eating, they can’t bite into a nice, juicy steak or a crisp, new apple without worrying about leaving the dentures in the food, and they find that the adhesive is messy and difficult to apply.  Some people even find the adhesive hard to tolerate and develop a gag reflex when inserting and removing their dentures. Dentures give the look of teeth, but they are not teeth, and can’t perform as well as teeth.

If you have struggled with your dentures, you may want to consider dental implants. Unlike dentures, that accelerate bone loss, teeth implants stimulate bone growth and preserve the health and shape of your jaw and face. With proper care, dental implants feel and function just like your other healthy, strong, real teeth.  It’s also possible to get these teeth implants in one visit. Yes- just one visit.

One of the main benefits of dental implants is that may allow patients to obtain fixed, non-removable arches of teeth without the need for bone grafting. This is accomplished by place the two rear implants at an angle in order to take advantage of the stronger bone found at the front of the jaw. The implants work as a team to support an entire upper or lower arch of teeth.  Today’s technology allows a cosmetic dental surgeon to immediately load the implants with an arch of teeth in one day.  If all this sounds complicated to you, come see your local cosmetic dentist and we will explain it all to you, and show you examples and photos.  Don’t worry about any pain, because dental sedation is available and you won’t remember the entire process, just notice your beautiful smile when we’re finished.

If you are not satisfied with your dentures, come visit your local Charlotte cosmetic dentist, here at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry, and we’ll give you a free consultation on what solutions are available to you.
